Mothers are special. Their unconditional love for their children means they’ll do just about anything for them.
Mothers sacrifice their own time, treasures, and even desires to ensure their child is happy, healthy, and successful.
But it doesn’t take physically giving birth for maternal instinct to kick in. Sometimes a woman we consider to be our mother is not the woman who gave birth to us.
It may be our adoptive mother.
Or it may be a mother figure in our life.
Some people are blessed to have multiple mother figures in their life.
One spiritual mother we all share is the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She loved her only son, Jesus, unconditionally … and she loves each one of us unconditionally too.
Mary is ready, willing, and able to help us in all matters, big or small. Whether it’s to listen to us, to comfort us, or to intercede with the Lord on our behalf.
Sunday we’ll honor our mothers … near, far, or in heaven. It’s an opportunity to honor Mary on Mother’s Day too. And to continue honoring her throughout the month of May.
So this week’s issue of Genuflect focuses on our spiritual mother Mary. We look at some interesting facts about our Lord’s mother, why and how we honor her, and some special prayers to Mary.
Be sure to reach out to all the special mothers in your life on Sunday and find a way to honor Mary throughout the month of May.
I wish all the mothers and mother figures out there a very happy and blessed Mother’s Day! Thank you for all you do.
