About The Novena to Saint Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene is recognized as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and often referred to as the “Apostle to the Apostles.” According to the Gospels, she was a witness to Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and resurrection, and was the first to encounter the risen Christ in John’s account (John 20:11-18). Freed by Jesus from seven demons (Luke 8:2), she became a model of repentance and discipleship. Her importance lies in her role as a faithful disciple, her presence at key moments of Jesus’ passion, and her commission to proclaim the resurrection, earning her a revered place in Catholic tradition. Her feast day is celebrated on July 22.
