Hey there,
A couple of months ago over dinner with family, the Shroud of Turin came up in conversation. One relative quickly dismissed it, insisting carbon dating had already “debunked” it as a medieval forgery. At the time, I wasn’t sure what to think … I’d heard conflicting claims about its authenticity.
Then, just weeks ago, I listened to an interview between Tucker Carlson and Jeremiah Johnston that completely shifted my perspective. Johnston shared fascinating scientific insights into why the carbon dating was flawed and revealed details about the Shroud I had never encountered before. I knew it was time to take a deeper look.
Part of the confusion may stem from the fact that the Catholic Church has never officially declared the Shroud a relic of Christ. The Church takes no formal stance, leaving Catholics free to study the evidence and draw our own conclusions.
That’s why, in this week’s issue of Genuflect, we’re unwrapping the mystery of the Shroud of Turin … exploring the science behind it, the Church’s position, what the image may reveal about Jesus, and the spiritual power it continues to hold.
My hope is that this will give you new insights and help you reflect on your own view of the Shroud.

New science suggests they were wrong, and probably lying. Jeremiah Johnston with the evidence that it is in fact the actual burial shroud of Jesus.”

Some researchers even think the image might have been formed by a burst of light no natural cause can explain … possibly hinting at a resurrection.
