Hey there,
How are your new year’s resolutions coming along? This is typically when they start to drop off.
You’ll recall that one of my resolutions this year is to work to convert someone to Catholicism. I’m happy to announce that I am still at it (I expect this will take quite a while actually).
It’s said that if you want to persuade someone to your way of thinking, it helps to understand them. Well, actually, it has to do with knowing your enemy in the Art of War, but I figure it’s just as important with persuasion.
Many non-Catholics are Protestant. I even grew up with one.
I remember as a child asking my Mom what religion my Dad was and being told, “He’s a Protestant.” I didn’t understand at the time what that meant.
And as a cradle Catholic, I never learned much about the teachings of the different Protestant denominations.
This week’s issue of Genuflect looks at Protestantism, its origins, how it differs from Catholicism in its teachings in areas like the 10 Commandments, salvation, the Bible, original sin, Mary, and divorce.
So whether you’re trying to convert someone to the Catholic Church like I am … or if you’d like to be better prepared for an unexpected evangelization opportunity, hopefully you’ll learn something new. And if you’re a Protestant convert to Catholicism, I’d love to hear your perspective … hit reply and let me know why you were drawn to Catholicism.
Keep Believing-
