Hey there,
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about holiness is Jesus Christ. Then Mary and Joseph.
The Apostles and disciples.
The Saints.
Even Priests, Deacons, and others in religious life.
I don’t think about “ordinary people” like me.
But that’s not right.
We are all called to holiness. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
“All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity.” All are called to holiness: “Be perfect, as your heavenly father is perfect.” (CCC 2013)
And for those of us working to get to our heavenly reward, holiness is key.
This week’s issue of Genuflect delves into holiness for all of us, including what holiness means, how to grow in holiness, how holiness does not always involve being nice, a spiritual danger to avoid, and what Pope Francis says about growing in holiness.
So we can all strive to grow in our holiness in the here and now.
Keep Believing-
