Hey there,
So many of the feast days celebrated in the Catholic Church are based on the death of a Saint.
But tomorrow, January 25th, is different. Tomorrow we celebrate The Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle.
You know, the guy who was persecuting followers of Jesus … until he was dramatically confronted by Jesus on the road to Damascus. The thrilling story is in the resources below, so I won’t go into the details here.
But, this is one of the most amazing turnarounds ever. Not only was Paul baptized, he spent the rest of his life spreading the good news of Jesus Christ around the world. He went from participating in the death of Saint Stephen, the first martyr, to eventually being martyred himself.
This week’s issue of Genuflect recounts the circumstances of Saint Paul’s conversion, what it means, why it’s so important, and perhaps most importantly, what we can learn from it.
Saint Paul shows us that conversion is not just starting to follow a religion. Or changing from one religion to another. It’s a change of heart. We are all called to conversion … even if Jesus’ call to us is not as dramatic as Saint Paul’s.

Importance of Paul’s Conversion
Paul Senz declares Saint Paul’s conversion as one of the “most important and sea-changing moments in the history of Christianity” for two reasons. He spread Christianity to many countries and Gentiles. And he shows us what conversion means. We’re all called to conversion, so you might want to check this out.
