Hey there,
One of the first words children learn to say is … mine.
Or more accurately, “Mine! Mine!”
And that’s about the time we teach them all about the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like them to treat you.
It’s a concept that goes back to ancient times … it’s been documented as far back as 2000+ years before Christ!
And though the term “Golden Rule” is not found in the Bible, it’s definitely a cornerstone of Jesus’ teaching. It’s just that Jesus’ version of the Golden Rule was a little different than His predecessors.
In past weeks we’ve looked at the 10 Commandments in depth. So it’s only fitting that Genuflect stops to reflect on what Jesus called one of the greatest commandments of all. It’s based on love and it’s important for us to remember it … and try to uphold it … every day with everyone we encounter.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Moses gave us the “old law,” which is the 10 commandments written on stone. But Jesus gave us the “new law,” written on our hearts. Here’s how one prepared the way for the other and how they work together.
