Hey there,
This Saturday, January 22nd, marks the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in the United States.
On our Liturgical Calendar, it’s the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn Child.
And the day before, in Washington, D.C., hundreds of thousands are expected to attend the annual March For Life.
Protecting the unborn is a religious issue … it’s a political issue … and it’s a personal issue.
Everyone’s stance does not necessarily align between their religious, political, and personal views … though a great many do.
I believe strongly in the right to life of the unborn, but I’m not here to judge others who disagree … or to try to convince them otherwise. (Though I wouldn’t mind if anyone were to be persuaded.)
But the fact is, regardless of how we vote on the matter, there are plenty of ways we can work to protect the unborn, whether it’s through prayer, supporting women facing an unwanted pregnancy, and just better understanding all the alternatives.
This week’s issue of Genuflect focuses on how we can protect the unborn, through prayer this week around the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn Child, as well as throughout the year praying a weekly Rosary. We learn about the joy of raising a child with a disability, what men can do to end abortion, what being pro-life really means, and how overturning Roe v. Wade won’t end abortion (pray!).
Regardless of your religious, political, or personal views, I pray you’ll find value in these resources and join me and millions of Catholics in protecting the most vulnerable, the unborn.
Keep Believing-

What Men Can do
Abortion is usually presented as a woman’s issue and so men get left out. But as the father, they too have an important role to play when considering abortion. Robert Colquhoun provides insight as to what men can do to help end abortion.

Defeat Pro-choice Arguments
This article will help if you ever find yourself confronted by a pro-choice advocate. Keep in mind that although the circumstances surrounding abortion can be complex, abortion itself is not. Stay focused on this one point, provided by science, and you can speak confidently against abortion.

Abortion vs. Adoption
On the surface, abortion seems to be a much easier and low-cost solution than delivering your baby and putting him up for adoption. But upon closer examination nothing could be farther from the truth. Here’s why.

Overturning Roe Won’t End Abortion
Most people believe that Roe v. Wade is an abortion case. But it’s actually a federal vs. states’ rights case. If Roe v. Wade were ever to be overturned by the Supreme Court (we’re waiting on SCOTUS to rule on Dobbs v. Jackson now) here’s what will happen.
