About The St. Andrew Christmas Novena
The novena is named after St. Andrew the Apostle, most likely because it begins on his Feast day. It’s also called the Christmas Novena, St. Andrew’s Novena, St. Andrew’s Christmas Prayer, and the Christmas Anticipation Prayer. And even though it’s named for Saint Andrew, the prayer is not an intercessory prayer to the Saint. It’s prayed to God.
The origins of the prayer is unknown, but it is believed to be more than 100 years old.
How to Pray The St. Andrew Christmas Novena
The word novena is derived from the Latin term novem, meaning nine. Novenas are a nine day period of prayer to obtain special graces, to implore special favors, or make special petitions. However, the St. Andrew Christmas Novena is prayed for 25 days leading up to Christmas Day.

Pray The St. Andrew Christmas Novena beginning November 30th, the Feast of St. Andrew, to be finished by Christmas Eve. The special prayer is prayed 15 times every day, though not necessarily all at once. It may be broken up to be recited throughout the day, such as five prayers in the morning, the afternoon, and the evening.
